Nick Simper & Nasty Habits

NICK SIMPER & Nasty Habits (THE DEEP PURPLE MARK 1 SONGBOOK)

This band could almost be justified in performing under the name of Deep Purple! Just like the current line-up of DEEP PURPLE, it has one member of the original band; Ian Paice still pounds the skins in the original DEEP PURPLE, while the Nasty Habits line-up features Paice’s former rhythm colleague Nick Simper on bass.

But Nick definitely isn’t one of those shadowy band members from the early days that never made much of an impact. In DEEP PURPLE’s Mark I incarnation, Nick played on the first three albums and played a significant role in their first successes. It was Nick that had the idea of covering the Joe South number “Hush” - DEEP PURPLE’s first (and last!) US Number One. The band recorded 3 albums in 18 months and played several tours in the US. After leaving DEEP PURPLE, Nick played with MARSHA HUNT, founded the prog rock band WARHORSE, FANDANGO and, in the 90s, the GOOD OLD BOYS, which he still plays with. A few years ago, Austrian classic rock band NASTY HABITS became aware of Nick Simper and invited him to play a session with them. They soon had the idea of presenting songs from the first three DEEP PURPLE albums, “SHADES OF DEEP PURPLE“, “BOOK OF TALIESYN“ and “DEEP PURPLE”, for the loyal – and ever-growing – circle of fans old and new. Since then, NICK SIMPER & NASTY HABITS have never looked back.

The band has toured extensively, playing at clubs and festivals throughout Europe. Critics heaped praise on their live CD, “THE DEEP PURPLE MARK1 SONGBOOK”; ECLIPSED Magazine even said, “Hard to believe, but this band sounds more authentic than the current Deep Purple line-up.“

Only few musicians have managed to stay in the music business for several decades in such a successful way, and even less are able to bring people of different generations together and delight them at the same time. Chris Thompson has achieved all this!

He is the voice of legendary Manfred Mann’s Earth Band and the Alan Parson Project. Hits like “Blinded by the Light”, “Davy´s on the Road again” or “Mighty Quinn” have secured him a position among the elite of the music business. Modern covers like the one of „For You“ by House band „Disco Boys“ became a club-hit all over Europe. The singer with the great voice and an even greater charisma shines on every stage and in every domain.

Chris Thompson sang with big names like Tina Turner and Elton John. He composed for Ray Charles and John Farnham – his song „You´re the Voice“ was a huge success worldwide. Everyone who has seen Chris Thompson play live knows that man was born to be on stage.

Maggie Reilly (ex Mike Oldfield)

Mike Oldfield’s world hits "Moonlight Shadow" and "To France" showcased the crystalline voice of Scottish singer Maggie Reilly. Maggie has made a name for herself on the international music scene with her highly personal brand of tranquil, melodic pop. That fabulous voice has now gained in maturity, while it’s expressive as ever and with a versatility that’s truly astonishing.

"Moonlight Shadow" reached Number 2 in the German charts. Maggie released her first solo album,  "Echoes", in 1991; the album featured the hit single "Every Time We Touch". She went on to work with many big names in the music scene at home and abroad, including George Harrison, Art Garfunkel, Jack Bruce, Sisters of Mercy and Juliane Werding, and released numerous albums in Europe including the album “Starcrossed” (2000).

After taking a break from writing and recording, Maggie Reilly released her latest album "Rowan" in 2007, with an extensive tour of Germany to promote the album. The haunting mood of Maggie’s folk rock is fragile yet intense, with an underlying power that marries well with its sensitivity. Complex rhythms and unusual harmonic progressions are teamed with guitar improvisations to form a magnetic blend of traditional Irish and Scottish songs, Maggie’s own compositions and naturally her greatest hits.

Manfred Mann's Earth Band Rodger Hodgson

Roger Hodgson (ex Supertramp)

Roger Hodgson is recognized as one of the most gifted composers, songwriters and lyricists of our time!

As the legendary voice, writer and arranger of most of Supertramp’s greatest hits that led to more than 60 million record sales, he gave us amazingly enduring songs such as: “The Logical Song,” “Breakfast in America,” “Give a Little Bit,” “Take the Long Way Home,” “Dreamer,” "It's Raining Again,” “Fool's Overture” and so many others that have become the sound track of our lives.

“The highest compliment that Roger can be paid is that he probably sounds better live today than in the recording studio more than a generation ago.” EVENING STANDARD, LONDON -  Review from The Royal Albert Hall Concert.

"There are few vocalists instantly recognizable from the first few bars of a song but Roger Hodgson is certainly one of that unique group. The singer/songwriter of Supertramp, his voice is as unmistakable as the distinct keyboard sound of his early hits." THE TIMES, LONDON - Review from the Royal Albert Hall Concert.

Scala

SCALA  (Belgium's export hit No. 1 - the most successful women's choir in the world)

They are easygoing, pleasant and very successful.
Until now they have sold 400.000 albums – a record for a choir.

At their concerts you find seven-year-olds standing next to seventy-year-olds, punk fans next to rock or classical music lovers.

Several years ago the then unknown girl’s choir from the Belgium city of Aarschot sang the song “Engel” of Berlin’s brute rockers Rammstein and people asked: “Are they allowed to do that?”. The result was their version sounded much more mysterious, profound and oppressive than the original.

Over night Scala & Kolacny Brothers have aroused many heated discussion among music fans. A sensation was accomplished after they had presented their own interpretations of “Schrei nach Liebe” of German’s band Die Ärzte and Nirvana’s grunge-hymn “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.

Scala & Kolacny Brothers are far from merely being a choir that covers famous contemporary songs. They play in their own league. No matter whether modern pop or rock song or classical hymn, each song sung by these young women of between 16 and 28 years becomes its own dimension, making their versions brilliant and unique.

Amazing contrasts arise from the strong-voiced, angelic singing of the ensemble. Once enraged and sorrowful, then again powerful and optimistic
